•      Split screen effects are very common (Hey There Delilah – Plain White T’s, The Bucket – Kings of Leon)

•       Black and white or sepia tones (Mr Brightside – The Killers, Little Lion Man – Mumford and Sons, You Don’t Love Me – The Kooks)

•       Bands are featured playing and singing (Say it Ain’t So – Weezer, Valerie – The Zutons, Just for Tonight – One Night Only)

•       There is not always narrative behind the video, but if there is it tends to be fragmented (Valerie – The Zutons, Kids – MGMT, Fluorescent Adolescent – Arctic Monkeys, My Body is a Cage – Arcade Fire)
